The Spiritual Realm is Everyone’s Realm
If you have been involved with CDM to any extent, you have heard the concept that you are spirit. You are spirit, I am spirit, we are all spirit. Those of us here on earth, have bodies. We are spiritual beings manifesting through physical bodies. I am familiar with this on an intellectual level. I do also “know” this and have seen and had the spiritual awareness that other humans and animals on earth, are spirits, housed within bodies. However, I often forget or am distracted and find myself relating to others as “just” bodies. This is so invalidating to myself and others. Not acknowledging something as it is, is invalidating. I do the same with myself, allowing my body’s emotions and intellect to greatly influence my choices and actions. When I instead make my decisions using my spiritual perspective, the results tend to be more beneficial, and less dramatic and traumatic.
In addition to being aware that we are spirit, there also exists what I refer to as, the “spiritual realm.” We, as spirit, are part of the spiritual realm. Our physical bodies are part of the physical realm. For me, the physical realm is the physical reality on planet earth.
Having the information that I am spirit, and that spirit is different than my body has led me to create a lot of ideals about spirit, and a belief that spirit is better than body. I used to separate spiritual and physical in a different way than I do today, following an experience I had while on a walk with my dog. I was aware of myself as spirit, focusing my attention in the center of my head, surrounded by my body. Since we are spirit, connected to physical bodies, we can merge the spiritual realm with the physical realm in our experiences. As I looked out at the other humans walking around the park, my body was moved to tears. I am not sure if I can ever put into words what this experience was like, but I will attempt to.
As stated, we are all spirit and we “come from” or are a part of the spiritual realm. When we use our spiritual techniques, ground to the center of the earth, and focus our attention as spirit into the center of our head, we as spirit are then in our body. My awareness today allowed me to see the bigger picture in a less separate way. Yes, spirit is different than body. Yes, the spiritual realm is different than the physical realm. However, all is within the spiritual realm. Just as I focus as spirit in the center of my physical head and am then housed by my body. The physical realm is “in” the spiritual realm, and that is where it is housed. One is not better than the other. They are both important and necessary.
While watching the sea of human bodies and their dogs, I was aware of how we are living in the spiritual realm, whether we are in our bodies or outside of our bodies. Because the physical realm is again, in the spiritual realm. This allowed me to have a greater understanding of earth as a learning playground, a school for us as spirit.
