Grounding is the Foundation for Meditation

To begin your meditation, sit comfortably in a straight backed chair with your feet flat on the floor and your hands separated in your lap. Take a few deep breaths to relax your body.

Grounding is the first technique to use. Be aware of the energy center near the base of your spine, the first chakra. This chakra contains your information about how to relate to this reality. Visualize an energy flow from this chakra to the center of the earth. The energy will flow through all physical matter, the chair, floor, earth, until it reaches the center of the planet. Allow the grounding cord to be securely attached at your first chakra and at the center of the earth.

Each person experiences reality differently, so allow your own experience. You may feel more solid and safer, or you may feel whatever discomfort you have stored in your body. Grounding makes you more aware of your body and your experience in this physical reality.

You can be grounded at all times. When you are standing, laying down, sitting, walking or doing anything at all, you can be grounded. The more you practice grounding, the more you will be grounded.

As you sit quietly, experiencing being grounded, be aware of the benefits of grounding; it gives the body a sense of security as it assists you with survival issues about being here on earth.

Grounding makes the body safe and thus you as spirit can project more of your energy into your body. It acts as an electrical ground would, allowing you, the energetic spirit, to flow more freely and safely through the less energetic body.

Grounding also allows you to be more in charge of your reality, as you can create more fully through the body without effort. It helps you to be centered as well as connected to this reality. You are aware and stronger.

Another benefit of grounding is using it to release energy from your system. You can release any energy down your grounding cord and allow it to be neutralized at the center of the earth. You can release tension, unwanted concepts, foreign energies or anything else down the grounding cord.

Experience this benefit now. Reestablish your grounding from the first chakra to the center of the earth. Take a few deep breaths and release any tension in your body down the grounding cord. Be quiet a moment and repeat this release of energy down your grounding. You can release any energy this way.
