Focus on What You Want
What is your focus? Do you put your attention on what’s going wrong? Do you worry about the energy that might be affecting you? Do you wonder who might not want you to do what you want? Do you find yourself feeling frustrated and not having fun?
The word “focus” reminds me of the way you use a camera, wherever you point the camera, that’s what it pays attention to.
When you put your attention on yourself, on what you are creating and how you want to express yourself, then that’s what you create. But if you put your attention on what you don’t want, then that’s what you attract.
In the Tacoma Church, we were planning an event recently and everyone was worrying about how it would turn out, how much money we would raise, if it would work out right. We realized that we were paying attention to what we didn’t want rather than what we wanted, so we changed our focus. We started talking about what we wanted to create, and we decided that first of all, we wanted a fun time. We also wanted some goodies to taste and donations. We got what we wanted and it was a great event.
So, what’s important to you? Is that what you focus on first?
Maybe what’s important is getting some project done, yet you find yourself doing other things instead. Maybe you want to spend some time meditating, getting clear with yourself, but you find yourself doing all sorts of other things first.
You can choose your focus. Meditation (link to Med Instruction) is a great way to communicate with yourself and determine what focus you want. If you are unclear, you can get a reading (link to reading) and find out what’s keeping you from being clear about what you want, or what’s keeping you from putting your attention where you want it. What you create depends on what focus you choose.
