Change Can Be Exciting
Change is constant in life. Change is definitely a certainty for everyone. This reality of change is much easier to deal with when we live in the present moment and do not resist the change.
Have you ever dreaded something you need to do and put off doing it, prolonging the disturbance? Everyone has resisted change at some time because we have been taught to fear change. Actually, change can be exciting. Remember one change that you resisted that eventually became exciting and good for you. To help you enjoy change as a fact of life, remember the changes in your life that brought you satisfaction.
I resisted the change of moving from the city to our farm in the country because we did not have appropriate housing. The transition was a challenge, but I definitely found this change exciting. Once I moved to the farm, you couldn’t get me away from the country and farm life in spite of the lack of amenities. This change brought me great adventures and joy including ducks, chickens, and abundant wildlife. The daily scenery alone made the changes worth the sacrifice.
Another happy ending about change is when a friend was dreading confronting the difficulties about selling her house. I helped her call someone for advice and she discovered a simple solution to her problem. She had been putting this step off because of her fear of what she may have to do and one conversation made it possible for her to move forward. Her change has improved her whole life.
Often, we look at change as a big picture, a major transition, when it is actually many steps, one step at a time. My move seemed overwhelming when viewed with all of the pieces at once, but was possible one day at a time. My mother once told me to take life one day at a time, or one hour, or one second at a time if necessary. Her point was to be in the present moment with whatever is happening. I have remembered her lesson all these years and believe it is an important one for everyone.
Change is always happening, within and around us. Being in present time can help make the change exciting and even fun. Letting go of resistance to the change can help you move forward with ease. Embrace change as a normal part of your life and allow yourself to be excited about the motion of life. Allow your life of change to be an exciting adventure.
