Awaken Your Child Within

From Earth Energy: The Spiritual Frontier:

“While watching the sun set over the sea, I am reminded of my childhood, when every evening in the summer I climbed a tree, watched the sun go down over the mountains, and wished it good night. As a child I thought of the Sun and Moon and Earth as my friends and talked to them as friends.” … “Together let us return our awareness to the wisdom of our childhood, when we all talked with the Earth and Sun and Moon.”

Be aware of the child within you. This includes your openness to growth and your excitement about learning. Children are enthusiastic about everything they learn, from discovering a toe to attending the first day at school. To mature spiritually we need to match this childlike enthusiasm. We do need to be childlike, not childish, to allow our learning enthusiasm.

To help remind yourself of this level of enthusiasm remember a happy experience from your childhood such as a time you discovered something new about yourself or the world around you. Be in present time and allow yourself to enjoy this childhood learning experience. Be aware of the child within you now. You, the child within an adult body, the growing, learning, enthusiastic, free part of yourself.

Allow yourself to remember an experience within the last year when you discovered something new about yourself or the world around you. Feel the joy of that discovery. Be aware of the similarities with your childhood memory and validate that the child within you is alive and well.

Allow yourself to have and enjoy these two growth experiences in the present. Recognize the free, enthusiastic and fun-loving child you are now and always have been. Validate that enthusiasm is an earthly vibration close to God/Love. Children have enthusiasm without fear, guilt or judgement and so can we.

Children have unquestioning trust and faith and joyous enthusiasm uncomplicated by the fears, expectations and lies we collect through life. Children remind us of the joy of a soul without a giant ego. They show us uncomplicated faith we need to have in our power to learn and grow, to change and to heal ourselves. Children show us the enthusiasm level we need to experience God.

This simplicity of the child within each of us is there to set us free to experience our creativity unencumbered by lies and external energy. When a child learns to walk, he falls and gets up and tries again. The child does not stop to consider any ego issues – he keeps experimenting and learning. If we have the faith and enthusiasm of a child, we can experience our spiritual light and even trust ourselves enough to share this light with others.

Within each of us there is the possibility of brilliant light if we accept life as little children do, with no effort, allowing the unfolding of our lives. Daily our lives are unfolding, whether we are discovering our bodies, our spiritual nature or our love. The wonder a child experiences can create miracles, whether the child is in a small or large body.

We have the choice to see ourselves as we really are, like children see themselves, unencumbered by ethics, prejudice or other restrictive ideas. We have the power to grow from our knowledge if we can be like children all of our lives, free to experience and express the excitement of learning every new thing.

From The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran
“The soul unfolds itself, like a lotus of countless petals.”

The lotus, like a child, does not judge, analyze, criticize or posture. Like a child, the flower simply unfolds. To allow this unfolding is to allow our childlike trust and love of spirit.
