Using My Meditation Techniques While Working
I find that my techniques really help me when I am working. Working is a time when I haven’t always remembered to use my meditation techniques – after all, I’m not meditating. But I am living, and they are tools for all of life. Life has been particularly entertaining during the past year of the pandemic. My meditation techniques help me to deal with and even enjoy some of the changes that have happened.
I find that focusing on my grounding when I am listening to someone at work talk about an emotion-filled topic or something that is happening to/with them that they don’t like helps me to hear them better. That and refocusing into the center of my head help me to have more clarity about what is really going on. Sometimes it’s not what they are describing that is the real issue. If I can tune into what is really bothering them, I may be able to help with that. Sometimes things just are what they are, but if I can accept the other person where they are, that often is a big help. Sometimes I will find myself getting loaded down with their problem, when I find myself trying to solve their issues, I can step back and look at the bigger picture. Maybe I need to breathe and use my grounding to let them and their problem go. That way I can actually be of assistance. Often, I find, they want to make their problem my problem. If I buy into it, then I find I’m trying to solve something I didn’t create. When I help them find a solution to their problem, they feel empowered and make progress. Another thing that can throw off my clarity is when I have had a similar issue or one that matches some part of it – then I tend to get caught up in my issue and stop seeing theirs. For that I use my grounding and centering to help me release my matching life experience – then I’m better able to assist with theirs, as well as let go of past energy around my own experience.
After a day of dealing with people at work and their issues (it’s part of my job), it’s easy to start to feel overwhelmed by all the other people’s issues I have dealt with, so I take time to focus on my grounding, being in the center of my head and releasing. This can make all the difference as I go about the rest of my day.
Anyway, using my spiritual techniques helps remind me that I am not my body or my creations, that they are for my learning – just as other people’s creations are for their learning. It also helps me feel better about my choices and my mistakes – maybe I wanted to learn something different from what I thought.
